Meet the Coach
Toya Reavis
Since moving to San Diego in 1996, I have been competing on the track, roads, and cross country under such coaches as Olympians Steve Scott, Joaquim Cruz, and sub-4:00 miler Paul Greer.
I began coaching as an offshoot of my years of competing after seeing over and over again that many people jumped into a training program without ever assessing their structural issues or setting a baseline from which to begin. As a result, this lack of a proper foundation often led to injury, disappointment, or frustration.
Over time I found myself sharing my own experiences and solutions with runners, which sparked my return to school to pursue a more formal education in personal training and exercise physiology.
In addition to my successful private practice, I was the assistant cross-country and track coach at the University of San Diego for 5 years. I am also a USA Track and Field certified coach, an ACE certified personal trainer, and received certification in Exercise Science from the University of California San Diego. As a former nationally-ranked middle distance track and cross country runner, I bring a passion for sport and wellness to my coaching.
